blowing through the shutters and open doors of this hilltop paradise.
My first visit was in 1984 and my most recent was in 2006, with a dozen or so stops in between. Hummingbird Hill is truly my second home. The staff are like family to me. Settling in is no more complicated than kicking off my shoes and opening an ice cold Red Stripe!
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to visit and fall in love with all parts of the island, the people, the food, the sights and sounds; from Ocho Rios to Kingston, from Port Antonio to Negril, and so many places in between. Still, coming home to Hummingbird Hill is what it is all about.
My most recent trip was with my two boys (ages 7 and 10) who were visiting Jamaica for the first time. I now get to relive the discovery of this paradise once again through their eyes. By their own account, they still consider this “as the coolest place ever”! Smart kids… how could I possibly argue with them?
If this is what paradise is all about, who needs Heaven? »
